Jamal Musiala has spoken out about his future, with the Bayern Munich star's current contract due to expire in 18 months.

Bayern have been locked in talks with Musiala's camp about a new deal, but talks appear to have stalled and the 21-year-old's comments will put the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal on alert.

All three clubs have been linked with Musiala in recent years and the player has admitted he could leave Bayern in the future. In an interview with Bild, Musiala said: "Unfortunately I can't give the fans a Christmas present.

"There won't be any news in the near future. We've had a lot of games recently, a lot of travelling. My focus is to concentrate on the games. I want to be free on the pitch, even if there's a lot of pressure from outside.

"All in all, all the parameters that contribute to this big decision have to feel good and right for me. I would like to leave my mark on an era at FC Bayern. If I extend my contract with FC Bayern, that's my ambition and my goal.

"But I also know that you have to work for it, with victories, titles and major trophies. Then you get that kind of prestige: I want to earn that at FC Bayern."

His comments come after United forward Joshua Zirkzee, who was signed from Bologna over the summer, was asked by a fan to try and persuade Musiala to join the club as well. The pair are close friends, having previously been teammates together at Bayern, and Zirkzee told the fan: "I've tried. I've tried!"

Musiala was also quizzed about the exchange and he told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag : "You always joke around with friends and dream of playing together in a team one day. The jokes go both ways: I also told Josh that he should come back to Bayern. But you shouldn't take that too seriously.

"I am very happy at FC Bayern and fully focused on our goals with the club and the national team. I don't think too much about where I will be playing in five years. Things can always change quickly in the world of football."
