Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez cheered on the team before Spain's first FIFA World Cup match.

Just hours before Spain's FIFA World Cup debut, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, as head of government, sent words of encouragement to the Spanish team from Moncloa Palace.

Pedro Sánchez on the Spanish team: "We have the strongest team, young, diverse, and experienced."

"Some images will forever remain in our memories, such as Casillas saving Paraguay's penalty, Puyol scoring against Germany, and Iniesta's goal winning us the FIFA World Cup," the Socialist leader began his speech, recalling Spain's glorious past.

"The FIFA World Cup has begun, and we have the strongest team, young, diverse, and experienced. Many of these players have already brought the 2024 European Championship back home. Now, we are going for the second star, which will be the third star for Spanish football, because as everyone knows, the Spanish women's team also won their star in 2023," the Spanish Prime Minister said.

"I believe these next few weeks will be unforgettable, because the FIFA World Cup is not just about football; it also means unity, supporting our players, and most importantly, enjoying all of this with the people around you. The Red Fury is the pride of the entire nation, the pride of all Spaniards. So, we give it our all," he said.
