Serhou Guirassy netted a dramatic 87th-minute winner to carry Borussia Dortmund to a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday.
Match Report
The victory extended Dortmund's unbeaten Bundesliga run to 14 matches, and their winning streak to five, while also cutting the gap to league leaders Bayern Munich down to just three points ahead of Vincent Kompany's side facing Hoffenheim on Sunday.
Julian Brandt broke the deadlock seven minutes before the break, nodding home off Julian Ryerson's cross as Kamil Grabara failed to keep the effort out despite getting a touch on the ball.
But Brandt's opener was swiftly cancelled out in the 52nd minute as centre-back Konstantinos Koulierakis rose highest to head home and level the scores.
With the match ebbing towards a draw that would have significantly set Dortmund's title hopes back, Guirassy came to the fore with a crucial winner.
The striker met Fabio Silva's set-up before rifling a low finish into the left corner to seal the victory three minutes from time.
Data Debrief: Kovac reaches milestone century in style
Saturday's result marked a milestone for Dortmund boss Niko Kovac, who recorded his 100th Bundesliga victory as a manager.
It was a match of high performers for Kovac, with Guirassy and Ryerson impressing. Guirassy leads Dortmund with nine league goals this season, while Ryerson leads the Black and Yellow with seven assists.
Dortmund also extended their scoring run to 21 consecutive league matches, having found the net in every Bundesliga outing this season – more than any other side in the competition.
