Yuito Suzuki: The World Cup is every player's dream stage, but I won't get carried away by my debut

After completing training on June 22 local time, Japanese national team player Yuito Suzuki was interviewed by Gekisaka.

Suzuki: "It has been a long time since I last stepped onto the field, and my adrenaline is rushing. I feel very happy to be back on a competitive stage after such a long time, especially at the FIFA World Cup."

"During training, I struggled to find my best form, but I always had confidence in myself, believing that if I played normally, I could perform at a certain level. I was also convinced that I had the ability to compete. The match proved that; my body completely opened up, and any doubts I had were swept away. This was my first official match since my collarbone fracture—a perfect comeback."

"The situation on the field was already quite clear. My starting teammates had built a three-goal lead early on, which made it much easier for us substitutes to play. Although I couldn't afford to be reckless in that situation, whenever I had the ball, I focused on driving forward with all my strength."

"I don't have any special emotions just because I made my debut, but the FIFA World Cup is undoubtedly the stage every player dreams of. I must thank the many people who helped me return to the field after my collarbone fracture."

"But the tournament is far from over. I don't want to dwell on this debut; I just want to focus on the tasks ahead."

"This kind of cup competition is a short-term, decisive event. Whether the whole team can unite, including the substitute players, and fight together directly determines our overall strength. No matter what role I play, I hope to have a positive impact on the team. This mindset will definitely be reflected in my performance on the field."

"Our first opponent was Tunisia. If we progress smoothly, we will face stronger opponents. I hope to further demonstrate my strengths in the subsequent matches."
