Chelsea manager Frank Lampard made a last minute change - which saw him bring in academy goalkeeper Ethan Wady for their clash with Premier League champions Manchester City.
Lampard made the change to replace Joao Felix - as the Portuguese forward was ruled out before the match began.
The Blues started Kepa Arrizabalaga in net and have Edouard Mendy on the bench, but Wady was called in as the extra option.
Wady, the 21-year-old American from San Diego, California, has been with Chelsea since the 2017-18 season after his family relocated to England.
He has yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea after loan spells at Tooting, Mitcham United, Dartford, Hendon, and Woking.
Normally, fellow American Gabriel 'Gaga' Slonina would be the third-choice keeper for Chelsea.
However, the Chicago-area native is currently in Argentina as the starting goalkeeper in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In the opening match of the competition yesterday, Slonina kept a clean sheet against Ecuador.
With Ecuador taking eight shots, but none of them on target, the United States were able to find a game winner in the second minute of stoppage time with a thunder strike from Real Sociedad prospect Jonathan Gomez.
It's not likely that Wady will see action this afternoon at the Etihad - where Manchester City are celebrating their third consecutive Premier League title.
