Barcelona's first step towards the LaLiga crown takes place today

Barça begin today knowing the next week could allow them to wrap up the LaLiga title. Ernesto Valverde's team have the chance to secure the nine points they need to mathmatically be confirmed as Spanish champions. This would allow them to rest and rotate their squad ahead of the crucal matches against Liverpool at the end of the month.

Ahead of the English side's visit to the Camp Nou on the 1st May, Valverde has named the exact same squad for the contest against Sociedad today that travelled to Manchester.

The only doubt at the moment is Samuel Umtiti. Thomas Vermaelen took part in training but hasn't been given medical clearance yet. He joins Murillo, Todibo, Boateng and the injrued Rafinha out of the squad.

However Barça might make some minor changes to the starting XI for the LaLiga game. Nelson Semedo, Arturo Vidal and Ousmane Dembele could all start.

Sergi Roberto needs to be rested so the Portuguese full back is the obvious replacement. Busquets and Rakitic could both do with a rest and that is where Vidal comes in. Dembele continues to step up his recovery and might be given a chance alongside Messi and Suarez. Coutinho could drop to the bench or move back into midfield at the expense of Arthur.
