Everton player has bail extended arrested on suspicion of child sex offences

An update on the Everton star arrested back in July of 2021 has been provided by The Athletic on Tuesday.

Back in July it emerged that a Premier League footballer had been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences:

The Greater Manchester Police released the following statement on the issue:

“Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on Friday 16 July 2021 on suspicion of child sex offences.

“He is on police bail pending further enquiries.”

It would then be confirmed that the player in question was playing for Everton, who released this statement:

Everton can confirm it has suspended a First-Team player pending a police investigation. The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time.

Everton player has bail extended

There has since been very little reported on the incident. However, as mentioned above, The Athletic have now released an update on the situation.

The UK-based outlet reports that the Everton player has had his bail extended until January next year, after being originally arrested on Friday the 16th of July 2021, on suspicion of child sex offences:
