After the first international break of the season, Premier League clubs are back in action this weekend after two weeks off.

An extensive set of qualifying fixtures and friendlies took place, with players from 'top six' clubs travelling across the world to represent their country.

But which sides have players travelling the furthest, and who tends to perform well following the international break?

MANCHESTER CITY

Champions Manchester City have the best record of any top six club after the international break, and yet on this occasion they have racked up over 8,000 miles more than second on the list Tottenham.

Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo played against Argentina and Honduras, before returning to Manchester, a total distance of 12,792 miles.

Brazilian Ederson and Argentina's Nicolas Otamendi were other South American players in international action - Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus did not feature.

Riyad Mahrez also featured for Algeria against Benin in Algiers, where they paraded the African Cup of Nations trophy.

TOTTENHAM

Tottenham have had the most players on international duty in the past week - a total of 14.

Their South American contingent include Columbia's Davinson Sanchez and loanee signing Giovani Lo Celso, while Son Heung-min played for South Korea against Georgia and Turkmenistan.

Two of Mauricio Pochettino's squad play for African nations too, with Victor Wanyama and Serge Aurier with Kenya and Ivory Coast respectively. However, Spurs are at home this weekend, and host Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

LIVERPOOL

11 Liverpool members of the first-team squad played senior international football, with Brazilian duo Fabinho and Roberto Firmino having the furthest to travel for friendlies in USA.

Midfielders Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri (who rejected a Switzerland call-up) made use of the time off to work on their fitness, while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were afforded some time off.

CHELSEA

All but one of Chelsea's international contingent played Euro 2020 qualifiers this time round, with new signing Christian Pulisic representing USA against Mexico and Uruguay on home soil.

Jorginho and Emerson were part of Italy's squad who beat Armenia and Finland, and Olivier Giroud and Kurt Zouma were on duty for France.

The Chelsea players in the England squad were Ross Barkley and Mason Mount, who made his debut at Wembley in the 4-0 victory against Bulgaria.

ARSENAL

Matteo Guendouzi was awarded for his fine early-season form with a first call-up to the France national team, but did not come in either qualifier against Albania and Andorra.

Sokratis played for Greece against Italy and Bosnia & Herzegovina, while Lucas Torreira made the trip over the Atlantic to America, where he played for Uruguay against Costa Rica and USA.

Aubameyang will be well rested, as Gabon did not play.

Furthermore, Dani Ceballos was in Spain's squad, Bernd Leno in Germany's squad and Granit Xhaka in Switzerland's squad.

MANCHESTER UNITED

There were a total of eight Manchester United players in action, with Marcos Rojo travelling the furthest as part of the Argentina squad in the United States.

Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford both starred for England in wins against Bulgaria and Kosovo, while Scott McTominay had a torrid few days with Scotland.

David de Gea was recalled for Spain's second qualifier against the Faroe Islands, and Victor Lindelof scored for Sweden in the Faroe Islands.

Paul Pogba withdrew from the France squad with injury.
