If Lopetegui chooses Asensio then it means that he would be in a three man attack and offer more threat while Isco would be in a four-man midfield alongside Casemiro, Kroos and Modric, and Madrid would be more solid.
Isco is back after more than a month on the sidelines following his appendicitis and without him Madrid struggled to control matches. He was not in four of five defeats but he neither is in his best form.
Asensio is able to turn games around and before now has left his mark at the Camp Nou. He was always described as a promising player and now his problem is consistency which has not been helped by the general poor form from the team.
There is a belief though in the club that with the departure of Ronaldo, Asensio can come to the fore.
