Mignolet's agent provides transfer update as Liverpool goalkeeper nears exit

Simon Mignolet looks set to leave Liverpool this summer after his agent revealed the goalkeeper was desperate to play regular football next term.

The 31-year-old spent last season providing back-up to Brazil international Alisson , while the previous two campaigns before that saw him battle it out with German stopper Loris Karius to start between the sticks.

The Belgium international became the Reds' first choice after joining from Sunderland for £9m in 2013, but has fallen down the pecking order in recent years.

And it seems Mignolet is keen to get out of Anfield to restart his career this summer, according to his agent, the former Crystal Palace custodian Nico Vaesen .

"The goalkeeper game of musical chairs hasn’t started yet," Vaesen told Le Sport Plus .

"It’s important for Simon to play somewhere, and our goal is still to make him leave.

"He’s still got a lot to offer, and if we have an offer, we’re counting on Liverpool making an effort."

Though he is angling for a move away this summer, Mignolet is set to be given plenty of game time in pre-season by Liverpool.

Alisson is currently still away from the Reds and enjoying some down time after helping Brazil win the Copa America earlier this month, while third-choice stopper Caoimhin Kelleher is recovering from wrist surgery.

Polish youngster Kamil Grabara has joined Huddersfield on a season-long loan and such is Liverpool's keeper crisis, they have had to draft free agent Andy Lonergan into their squad for their pre-season trip to the USA.

After joining Liverpool in 2013, Mignolet was a key part of the squad that narrowly finished second to Manchester City in the Premier League that season.

In all, the 31-year-old has made 204 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, though featured just once in the FA Cup for Jurgen Klopp's men last term.
