Morata set to be a father as he announces pregnancy with wife Alice Campello

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has revealed he is set to become a father for the first time after taking to Instagram to announce the news with the help of his wife Alice Campello.

The Spaniard posted a photo of himself kissing Campello's stomach with the accompanying caption: ‘The first time I saw you I knew you were going to be the mother of my children and I am sure that you will be the most beautiful and sweet and good mom. I can not love you any more!'

As if orchestrated by a top PR firm, Campello soon followed suit with a tribute on her own Instagram page. Using the same picture, she wrote: 'You are my happiness, the best husband I could wish for. You are my refuge, my home, my joy, my family. And I am sure you will be the best dad that exists. I love you that my heart breaks.'

Morata and Campello have been married since June, just before his big-money move to Chelsea was confirmed, and have frequently shared their evidently strong feelings for one another across social media, where both boast followings of over a million users, for obvious reasons.

Due to the fact that he is a Spain international and was still a Real Madrid player at tje time, the June wedding ceremony in Venice was big news in his homeland and came complete with a star-studded guest list including Isco and Simone Zaza.

The news of his first child will be a fitting end to what has been a fantastic 2017 for the 25-year-old striker.

After winning the Champions League with his boyhood club Real Madrid, he became the most expensive player in Chelsea's history before setting about justifying the £70.6million transfer fee with a hat-full of goals.

His debut campaign at Stamford Bridge has already reaped 10 goals as well as four assists. Antonio Conte has regularly lavished praise on his new signings.

He will, however, be unable to add to his tally in Tuesday's game against Huddersfield Town after Conte confirmed he would stay in west London with a slight back problem.

Conte said: 'Morata is out, because he's a bit tired and there is a problem in his back. He is out.'
