RIP! Former Real Madrid defender Angel Perez Garcia dies aged 62

Former Real Madrid defender Angel Perez Garcia passed away at the age of 62.

He played a total of 24 games for Los Blancos and won one league title, as well as two Copas del Rey, while he was part of the squad known as 'Los Garcia,' along with players such as Rafael Garcia Cortes, Francisco Garcia Hernandez, Antonio Garcia Navajas and Mariano Garcia Remon.

Perez Garcia is remembered for his defending against the two-time Ballon d'Or winner Kevin Keegan in Real Madrid's 2-0 win against Hamburg in the 1979/80 season.

Although the German side beat Los Blancos 5-1 in the return leg, his effort to contain one of the best European players in the 70s and 80s was considered as a huge achievement at time.

After departing Madrid, he moved to Real Murcia and then Elche before he called time on his career in 1995 at Roldan.

Perez Garcia subsequently stepped into coaching and took charge of teams such as Almeria B, Sangonera and Atletico Ciudad, while his last club was the Bolivian side Nacional Potosi.
