The front page of SPORT read: 'Madrid come out alive' while Mundo Deportivo's splash headline read: 'Beating without knockout'.
City made a blistering start with Kevin De Bruyne scoring the fastest ever goal in a Champions League semi-final after heading the ball home inside 94 seconds.
Gabriel Jesus doubled their lead on 11 minutes as Real struggled to deal with the intensity of the Premier League champions.
Prolific striker Karim Benzema handed the Spanish giants a lifeline by netting before half-time.
Phil Foden restored City's two-goal lead but Vinicius Jr pulled one back just two minutes later.
Bernardo Silva put Guardiola's side 4-2 up but Benzema was ice cool to score a panenka penalty in the 82nd minute and a 4-3 defeat back to the Bernabeu.
Spanish newspaper AS focused on work being needed in the return leg next Wednesday while Marca actually called the first-leg loss a 'miracle' as its headline read: 'Miracle to miracle'.
Real have come very close to being knocked out the competition, first by PSG and then by Chelsea but turned it around to reach the last four.

I salute Man City , they beat everyone on their way 🤣🤣🤣 Man City turned epl into a farmers league. from 2017/18 season man city has secured 4 epl titles while Liverpool only secured one in 2019/20 season. We need to salute Pep and his team and register this team in the book of guene. Great team on planet and there will never be anyone I am blessed to witness this super performance in my human life.

Ancelloti tactics in these big games seems not to be working. Madrid winning against psg due to those defensive errors was pure luck. We almost to Chelsea but got saved with some individual brilliance. Against Man City his system didn't work but some individual brilliance kept as in the game. No wonder Marca news paper said we were kept in the game due to miracle. So the question is how many times are we going to rely on individual brilliance. Ancelloti better get a system, if not I don't think we will qualify. Because you can't be lucky always
