Cristiano Ronaldo is joining nine-time Saudi champions Al Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo officially joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr until June 2025 on Friday.

The Portuguese striker will continue his career with the Riyadh-based club after they officially announced their new signing. The deal will reportedly make the former Real Madrid player the highest-paid footballer of all time.

“I’m eager to experience a new football league in a different country. The vision that Al Nassr has is very inspiring and I am excited to join my team-mates,” Ronaldo said in his first statement as an Al Nassr player.

Al Nassr will be his fifth professional club, after spells with Sporting CP, Manchester United (twice), Real Madrid and Juventus.

Al Nassr were formed in 1955 and have won nine league titles, six King’s Cup crowns, three Crown Prince’s Cup trophies, the Federation Cup three times and the Saudi Super Cup twice.

The club’s head coach is Rudi Garcia, who has worked at several European clubs, including Roma, Marseille and Lille.

Musalli Al-Muammar is the current president of Al Nassr. He is a former head of the Saudi Pro League. In 2021, Al-Muanmar was the preferred choice of Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, who has provided support to the Saudi club.

Al Nassr are top of the Saudi Premier League and are currently coached by Spanish manager Vicente Moreno. Ronaldo’s arrival at the club not only boosts their on-the-field chances, but will also have a major impact on their social media and branding.

Al Nassr’s sporting director, Marcelo Salazar, is working in his bid to take Al Nassr to the top of Saudi football.

Saudi Sports Minister Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal said he is “happy” that Ronaldo is moving Saudi Arabia after making his move official. “Happy to have one of the best players in the world starting his new career in Saudi Arabia. Welcome Cristiano to the kingdom,” he tweeted.
