On June 23rd, in a FIFA World Cup group stage match, Norway faced Senegal. Norway ultimately defeated Senegal 3-2. After the match, Norway captain Ødegaard was interviewed by NRK.
On facing criticism
"My thoughts are the same as last week: I give my all for the team, but sometimes my performances aren't as good as they could be. The outside world writes a lot of strange things, but as you can see, it doesn't bother me much. That's just life."
On progressing to the knockout stage
"It's good to have dreams, and we'll do our best. But at the same time, we need to stay grounded; there is still a lot to improve. We conceded two goals we shouldn't have, so there is plenty we need to strengthen. People around us and you can praise us as much as you want, do what you want, but we must focus on what we need to do and prepare seriously for the next match."
On his communication with Berge during the match and his assist
"He said a lot during this match, so I don't remember it all clearly. It felt great, and the move was wonderful. Berge won the ball and passed it to me, and then I found Erling (Haaland); it was my teammates who scored."
