The Gunners squandered another chance to remain in touch with their four rivals when they suffered an away defeat against the Saints
Many Arsenal fans were too upset to celebrate with the Easter message posted on the club's official social media pages after the team suffered a 1-0 Premier League defeat against Southampton on Saturday.
The Gunners registered their third straight defeat in the top-flight after Jan Bednarek struck home in the 44th minute at Saint Mary’s Stadium. The defeat saw Arsenal drop to the sixth position on the 20-team table with 54 points from 31 matches.

While the defeat left many Arsenal fans hurting, what triggered them is the decision by the club to wish them a happy Easter after the outcome of the game.
The club posted a message on their social media pages which stated: “Happy Easter to everyone celebrating, from all of us at Arsenal,“ while in another video on their Twitter handle, they posted a video message from winger Bukayo Saka, also wishing the fans happy holidays.
However, the fans have used the two messages to hit back at the club and called for the immediate sacking of manager Mikel Arteta before they can accept the wishes.
Below is how the fans responded to the two messages on Twitter and Facebook.
Meanwhile on Facebook, Mark Curly Sharman wondered where the club had got the nerve to wish the fans a happy Easter by stating: “Don’t know how you have the nerve to wish us Happy Easter.
“If we had won the last three games instead of losing we would be sitting in third right now, then it would be Happy Easter. Sorry but Arsenal are now a second-rate team.”
Magnus Chan opined: “After losing three consecutive Premier League games to teams with a lower strength than you, the advantage of competing for the fourth place in the Premier League has turned into a disadvantage. Why should you be happy and celebrate?”
Caren John also gave her reason as to why she was not in the mood to celebrate: “This would sound better if you had given us the three points yesterday [Saturday]. “Anyway, Happy Easter. Jesus' death and resurrection has nothing to do with this.”
Another fan Charlie Eric Lewis Leigh described Arsenal’s recent run of results in the league as a “big joke” and wondered what was happy about watching the side: “Please tell me what is happy about watching the side, who the fans put so much of their trust and hopes in, losing matches one after the other, at the most critical time of the season.
“Who will give them any hope against Chelsea, who beat the side, we lost against 6-0?”
Seun Olufemi maintained fans can only celebrate after Arteta is shown the exit door: “You can't wish us a happy celebration when you kept giving us heartaches. We will celebrate when you let go of this inexperienced manager.”
“Which happy are you talking about?” questioned Robby Monty Ongesa. “We are feeling every bit of this Easter. From the bitter betrayal of you telling us to trust the process then slap us back with three hard defeats and expect we heal the crucification in a flash.”
Ama-Nam Ekuk'Inam challenged the team to win matches insisting there was nothing happy about Easter: “There's nothing to be happy about. Go and win matches, that’s the happiness we desire.”
Meanwhile, other fans have put a brave face despite the defeat: “Happy Easter to Arsenal,” Timothy Ozil Nsheka responded to the message. “We win together, lose together and draw together we are Arsenal.”

what was the reason Arteta became Arsenal Manager? is it because he worked with Pep? After all these years working with Pep he still can't show nothing. our team play clueless, no tactics, no strategies. we only win games when our opponents allow us too...we can't beat the weakest team even if they were having a bad day. No plan A. No plan B... Inexperience yet trust the process...What is that process we hear off? Arteta Out!!!!!!!!!
it's not about being impatient, you mentioned building a team for the future. I don't see a Future if we can get the foundation right? we're not convincing going forward much less defending that's because we're building for the future without tartics

There are too many negative comments from couch managers who have zero experience so should rather refrain from commenting with stupid and hate remarks.

We brought in experienced manager in Emery and in 18mths were regressing. Nobody was complaining up to 3 games ago so shut up and support the club or choose another one like ManU who are underperforming with the talent they have. Just look how many so called experienced mangers they have brought in since Ferguson. Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho and were miles off winning the league. Now they look like bringing in someone who only worked with kids. No big egos. Let’s see.

Arteta does not deserve these destructive comments. We've lost battles, not the war. We've suffered humiliation before and Arteta has rescued us. We're still very close to a top four slot. Whoever is calling for Arteta's removal should try to smoke something rather mild and consult a different psychiatrist.
Well written my genuine supporter. Wish there were more of you on this app.

You don’t know the reasons he was chosen. He was a precious captain who understands the club values. They plan was to build a new team that would be together for years. Clearly you are too impatient and clueless and should rather support another team.

Mr. man what are you talking about, if Arteta needs to gather more experience as a coach, then he should go to either Leeds, Burnley, Crystal Palace or probably Gatafe, Espanol etc certainly not Arsenal. Newcastle was most of times at relegation zone before the second half of the season. They injected less than £100m to buy more quality players, we can all see the effects of money well spent.
yes, definitely arsenal needs new ownership not sacking of coach alone, that club needs NEW ERA

Arsenal fans are the problem of the club. the same fans that wanted Wenger gone and the same fans that wanted Emery gone and now singing praises for Emery with what he is doing at Villareal. Now the same stupid fans want Arteta gone and the guy has great vision which will get this club to the too
so o, definitely the club needs new ownership, this is what most fans haven't looked into, let this man sell up d club to whom that finance the club and let's wait for what happened next

you are very right, the major problem with this club is the ownership, this man isn't ready to finance the club anytime soon,he should just dump and up it up for sale instead of him just putting the into MESS. assuming Arsene Wenger was able to speak out on this, everyone would have known where exactly the problem is coming from.arsenal have been facing the same problem every season,it's now becoming a MYSTERY. we all can see how the club is for now, there isn't any major key player or game-changer in that team, imagine if bukayo Saka isn't in that team, where would arsenal will be by now. they couldn't buy any player during the transfer window,it's a big SHAME to the club. I think, what the fans over there should fight for is how that man(kronke)would leave the club,it's tiring I swear.even if arsenal should qualify for next UCL,where is the they would use in competing along the others, this season, they couldn't play either the UCL or UEL and still yet they can't still fight for the league neither top 4,it's disgusting

Arsenal is going to looss all the remaining games because of this kid Arteta he is too young for this big Club he has no experience to win cruicial games there were better coaches whom the owners of the should have brought in insteard of a kid bit they decided make the team a laughing stoke at the end of the season and this is exetly what i said how can we loose points to Palace , Brigton and Southampton in such a cruicial time
voselmnosu

Arteta is a kid he should be fired and an experienced coach be brought here some one who will respect even the senior players because we are here because of his pride sending away the best players who can win us games in this cruecial times but instead he brought in kids like Nuno Tavares and Lokonga throwing away our only perfect striker Auba ,Kolasnac , Pablo Mari players who should be covering the positions of the injured players

Arteta is a good manager but his problem is only one. Being very stubborn to stars is too much , ok send them a way and replace them immediately. For sure Arteta has cost not to play UCL league,he could replace Aub immediately. His over confidence for being best manager for some months has lead him losing 3 consecutive matches which were very crucial for us.

He is just a useless coach, what we lack is striker how on Earth can u let ur striker go on free without replacement. Arteta and Edu should be sacked

The main problem is Arsenal owner and a board member at Arsenal. Stan Kroenke is no passion to watch this Arsenal team success. What he know is only business. Arsenal FC is just for his business rather than success. If we look at Chelsea, why are they success in the recent years, because of their owner (Roman Abramovich) has a passion to build a team to won every trophy. If Arsenal owner and their board member want to sack Mikel Arteta, than i think the suitable coach is Zinadine Zidane. He is a winning mentality coach. That is my opinion. (sorry for my bad english)

Bruno Guimares has 2 goals in maybe 4 starts. Granit Xhaka has 0 in 30 starts. I think he’s scored 1 goal in two years. These are the decisions that are killing Arsenal. They should have paid the price for Bruno G.
Goals aren't important for those players but you're right.

Sentiment don't win you trophies. Chelsea won the first UEFA Champions League trophy when Robert De Matteo was brought in to steady ship mid way into the season when the team was falling part in their performance in the league. He was ex Chelsea player. He didn't really do well as a coach in premier league but yet he won the UEFA Champions League. He was promptly replaced at the beginning of the new season with another coach. It was very painful that he was not given the chance to managed Chelsea team the following season. Yet Chelsea had gone up to win several more trophies both domestic and UEFA after he was released as a coach. That's the difference between Chelsea and Arsenal. Sentiment don't win you trophies!

Arsenal board needs to seriously think about this great club. If things don't improve in near future, the club would be among others fighting for survival in the top tier of English football. The line up against Southampton was of poor quality and certainly do not deserve Champions League football. If they fail to finish in top 4, starting with Arteta, Xhaka, Lacazette and some other mediocre players need to be booted immediately after the final whistle of the last game of current season.
