‘Optimism all round’ that Saul Niguez joins Chelsea

An update on Chelsea’s hunt for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has emerged on Tuesday afternoon.

Chelsea’s links to the Spaniard would begin to ramp up earlier this month, when the Telegraph reported that the Blues were considering a late loan move for the Atletico man:

A week after that news broke, however, a fresh update emerged regarding Niguez and it didn’t look too good for Chelsea.

The Telegraph were once again back in with the update, stating that Atletico were having second thoughts over whether or not they will allow Saul to leave on loan:

Now though, with less than eight hours remaining of deadline day, a move for Saul does appear to still be on.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein is reporting that Chelsea are actively working on a deal for Saul which would be a loan with an option to buy.

Ornstein adds that there is optimism all around that the Spanish international now joins Chelsea:
