During the summer transfer window, Barcelona parted ways with a number of players, and one of them was Alex Valle. The defender was sold to Serie A side Como, who activated the option to buy they had in the loan agreement they had with the Catalans.
Valle had been seen as a candidate to compete with Alejandro Balde for the left-back spot in Hansi Flick’s squad, but in the end, it was decided that he would leave on a permanent basis. And so far, he has enjoyed his time in Italy.
Speaking to TV3 (via Sport), Valle expressed his delight at joining Como on a permanent basis, while also giving his thoughts on his head coach, Cesc Fabregas.
“It has been a complicated stretch with all this phase of loans, but I always tried to find my space and feel comfortable and now I am happier than ever. He’s very demanding and has a very clear idea of what he wants: to implement his winning mentality.”
Valle faced his former club in this season’s Joan Gamper Trophy, with Barcelona winning that match 5-0 back in August. He was directly up against Lamine Yamal at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, and during the interview, he reflected on that battle with the 18-year-old sensation, whom he had been teammates with.
“Lamine is an incredible player. I tried, I tried to sacrifice myself and be focused the whole game… But against those types of players, if he has a good day, with so much individual talent, it depends more on him than on you.”
It will be very interesting to see how Valle gets on during his time at Como. He showed potential at Barcelona, so it would be no surprise if the Catalans were to keep tabs on his progress in Italy.
