Empoli goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski set a new Serie A record with 17 saves against Atalanta in this evening’s 0-0 draw.
The game somehow ended goalless, largely thanks to the efforts of Fiorentina-owned shot-stopper Dragowski.
Since Opta started collecting statistics in 2004-05, no goalkeeper has made that many saves during a single Serie A match.
Atalanta were utterly dominant, although there are differing versions of quite how many efforts they had.
We know there were 18 on target, but the shots on goal vary from 32 to 47 (depending on how close you consider them to be to the goal), with 50 attempts overall.
Since 2004-05, the Serie A game with the most attempts to end 0-0 was Genoa-Juventus in March 2012, with 44 shots.
