Sky Sports asked fans to pick your combined XI from Manchester United's 1999 Treble-winning side and today's dominant Liverpool team, and the results are in...
Fans picked six Manchester United players in the combined XI, including the entire four-man midfield that helped Sir Alex Ferguson's side to the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the 1998/99 season.
However, only one United defender makes the side, with both of Liverpool's full-backs involved, and an Anfield forward line of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.
Peter Schmeichel won the battle of the goalkeepers by quite some margin, while Virgil van Dijk partners Jaap Stam in a centre-back partnership to be feared.
Gary Neville makes the bench, alongside team-mate Andy Cole and three Liverpool players in Alisson, Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino.

It had amassed only 79 points to win the league and in CL final when all Bayern players were ready in touch line to enter pitch to celebrate victory during injury time of play, all on a sudden United got unexpected goals. That’s sheer luck. But individually there were some greats players in the team.

Gary N was brilliant but Phill was only okay. Gary N has also said he would hate to be a full back in this era due to the speed of the game and how wingers have also evolved from running in straight lines to being able to cut inside more. Irwin was a brilliant player too. Not quite fast enough though. I pick their whole midfield as they would play Liverpool off the park. I just think Liverpool would have the edge defensively and have that bit more up front. Cole missed so many chances. it's hard to call as a neutral but you are a Utd fan so I think your bias is showing a little. Also, Liverpool win late in games too, more even than utd as far as I know.

Mane is a yes for me but not Salah he won't thrive in a front 2. not having Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer on the bench is an insult to football itself. that's like Dortmund not having Haaland in their matchday squad.

Honestly the hype in football nowadays is too much honestly, how an your compare a team that is yet to win an EPL title to one that won 3 on the bounce and 4 in five years, an also they won the European Treble of UCL EPL and FA Cup (then only one in English history till date ) it is disrespectful to compare that team (UTD 1999) to this Liverpool team, most of that 99 team players helped the club win around 7 EPL titles in 9 years that kind of domination is something Liverpool can only still dream of and even an invincible season can't guarantee that kind of dominance (ask Arsenal 2004 invincibles) if there is any Liverpool player to make that list it will be on TAA and Mane, and arguably VVD to partner Jaap Stam no offence and I am not trying to talk down on this Liverpool team, they are great and if they complete their invincible they will be one of the best but being an invincible will still not be enough to compare to a team as such it's almost like comparing a La Liga club to Barca of 2009 because the club is yet to lose after 25 that will be considered disrespect, and if table turned I am quite sure Liverpool fans won't like it too
