England will be there, joined by all the usual suspects plus Scotland, but some of the Premier League ’s biggest names are not going to feature at Euro 2024 after the qualification campaign drew to a close this week.
Three more spots are available via the play-offs, which will take place in March, but among the stars set for an extended summer break is Erling Haaland .
That will quietly satisfy Manchester City ’s coaching staff but Norway’s failure to progress from a group containing Spain and an impressive Scotland means the striker is still waiting to appear at a major tournament. Haaland has been just as prolific for his country, scoring 27 goals in 29 caps, and City are hopeful that the injury he picked up in a friendly with Faroe Islands last weekend will not sideline him for this weekend's clash against Liverpool
His compatriot Martin Odegaard , is in the same boat, with the Arsenal and Norway captain set for extended rest while a host of his clubmates battle away next June and July.
Neighbours Sweden also came up short, finishing third behind Belgium and Austria in their group, and that will give seven Premier League players a break.
That group includes the Newcastle striker Alexander Isak , Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski , Manchester United centre half Victor Lindelof , who captains the national team, and Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga .
Ireland’s dismal campaign, in which they lost six of eight games and only defeated Gibraltar, means Brighton ’s teenage star Evan Ferguson will also have to wait for a major tournament appearance, in additon to other Premier League regulars such as Brentford's Nathan Collins.
And a bunch of big names must also run the play-off gauntlet in early spring to determine whether they will be heading to Germany.
Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is among those facing a play-off with Georgia, along with Poland superstar Robert Lewandowski. Ukraine, featuring Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk and Arsenal versatility man Oleksandr Zinchenko, are also at risk, along with Wales.
A dozen sides will be in the play-offs, with teams will broken into three groups of four with one-off semi-finals and a final to determine which three progress. Wales will face Finland in their semi-final on March 21 with the winner taking on Poland or Estonia five days later.

Ryerson , the fullback of Dortmund! Sander Berge, I'm only comparing the 2 because I feel like they have enough talent and quality there to qualify for the Euros even bloody Nyland of Sevilla! they have enough to talent and quality to qualify for the Euros but , nope , they chose to underperform and basically "run away" from the Euros.

And people were backing him to win the Ballon d'or when he can't even be useful for Norway and could only get them knocked out and people were really comparing Ødegaard to Bruno Fernandes when he also couldn't contribute something for his nation. There's a difference, Bruno is good for club and country, while Ødegaard is good for only his club, this argument of who's the second best attacking mid in the prem after KDB is settled , it's done. 🥇: Kevin De Bruyne 🥈: Bruno Fernandes 🥉: Martin Ødegaard 4️⃣ : James Maddison 5️⃣ : Alexis McAllister

Even the great Weah never graced a World cup, though he was also a Ballon D'or winner.
