According to the Daily Mail, 7 million people in the UK watched the Champions League final between Paris and Arsenal.
Reports indicate that TNT Sports stated that because this year's Champions League final was not broadcast on free-to-air television, a total of 7 million people watched the match.
The broadcaster rejected a request from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, an Arsenal supporter, to broadcast the Arsenal vs. Paris Saint-Germain match for free, despite having offered free broadcasts in similar situations before.
This viewership figure is significantly lower than the 2022 Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid, when 12.6 million people watched the match because BT Sport, TNT Sports' predecessor, offered a free broadcast.
The last time an English team reached the final was in 2023, when Manchester City defeated Inter Milan to win the title.
Although specific audience data was not released, TNT stated that the Champions League final on Saturday achieved a 25.6% market share, comparable to Manchester City's victory.
TNT refused to disclose how many new subscribers they or their sister company HBO Max gained after resisting pressure from the Prime Minister to maintain paid broadcasting.
Interested viewers could choose to pay HBO a one-time fee of £4.99 for a one-month subscription.
A TNT spokesperson said: "The three European club competition finals this year had a total audience of over 13 million across TNT Sports and HBO Max platforms.
The Champions League final performed strongly in the UK, reaching over 7 million people and achieving the second-highest total TV audience share in TNT Sports' history, a performance comparable to Manchester City's final against Inter Milan three seasons ago. Throughout the season, UEFA club competitions had a larger audience on TNT Sports, with average viewership growing by 5% compared to last season."
