Manchester United's squad could look very different this time next year - with EIGHT players poised to leave Old Trafford in June 2024.
Erik ten Hag's side have made a tough start to the season. They are sixth in the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Manchester City. The Red Devils are also struggling in Europe after losing three of their first four Champions League fixtures.
With Sir Jim Ratcliffe expected to take charge of United's football operations once his 25 per cent purchase in the club is completed, there's a strong chance many players will be axed. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial, Hannibal Mejbri, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are all approaching the end of their contracts. It's also unclear whether loan stars Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon will be handed permanent deals.
Here, Mirror Football assesses each player's chances of securing a new contract...
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
United have the option to extend Wan-Bissaka's contract by a further 12 months and it would be foolish to release him. The right-back, who turns 26 next month, is good in one-on-one situations and still young enough to have a successful career at Old Trafford.
Considering Wan-Bissaka cost £50million when he arrived from Crystal Palace four-and-a-half years ago, it would be remarkable if United wrote off such a huge investment. Expect him to be handed a new long-term deal between now and June.
Victor Lindelof
United can also extend Lindelof's contract by another year. This decision is harder - seeing as he turns 30 next July and has never been their main man at centre-back - but Ten Hag likes him. He's featured in all but two of United's Premier League games this season.
Lindelof is unlikely to secure a lengthy new deal. But activating that clause in his contract is sensible, as it gives United time to decide on his long-term future.
Sofyan Amrabat
Much was expected of Amrabat following his superb performances at the World Cup in Qatar, as he helped Morocco reach the semi-finals for the first time. Ten Hag, who coached the player at Utrecht, was impressed and signed him on deadline day.
United paid Fiorentina an £8.6m loan fee and can sign him on a permanent deal in July for £17.1m - plus a further £4.2m in add-ons. Yet the 27-year-old midfielder hasn't pulled up any trees since his summer switch and is struggling to get off Ten Hag's bench. He's still got a lot of work to do if he wants to secure a long-term contract at Old Trafford.
Sergio Regulion
It's hard to imagine Regulion staying at United beyond next summer. The 26-year-old arrived on loan from Tottenham on deadline day after Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia suffered injuries.
Both left-backs are expected to be back shortly, which is likely to make Regulion surplus to requirements. Yet there's still time for Regulion to make an impression.
Hannibal Mejbri
The 20-year-old midfielder did well during a loan spell at Birmingham City last season and has already won 27 senior caps for Tunisia. He's an exciting talent, but he's not getting a chance under Ten Hag - spending the last six Premier League games on the bench.
It might be time for Hannibal to hand in a transfer request. United have the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months - an option they will exercise to ensure he doesn't leave for nothing - but he needs to start playing to have a future at Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial
Surely Martial's time at Old Trafford is up. The Frenchman, who turns 28 next month, rarely starts and has just one goal to his name this season. United can extend his contract by a further 12 months, but it's probably not worth doing so. He needs a fresh start.
Jonny Evans
Evans made a surprise return to United on deadline day and has been a useful addition to Ten Hag's squad, making five Premier League starts. The Northern Ireland international turns 36 in January and will need to keep performing if he wants another 12-month deal. Right now, it's hard to judge how Evans' second spell at Old Trafford will play out.
Tom Heaton
Speaking of veterans, United are likely to give Heaton another contract if he wants to stay. The former England goalkeeper, who turns 38 in April, offers plenty of experience and is ready to fill in for Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir if a rare injury crisis unfolds.
Yet Heaton may want to spend the last two or three years of his career playing week in, week out. He was linked with Luton during the previous transfer window and may fancy a new challenge come June. Don't be surprised if he leaves Old Trafford.

United should not ruin Højlund by giving him the number 9 shirt, that number is starting to get cursed, Lukaku flopped in it, Martial isn't doing too well with it, and hopefully Højlund doesn't suffer the same fate.

Like seriously why would anybody want Hannibal to stay Any youngster that can’t grab his chances during this injury plagued period is already surplus to requirement If they can’t prove it now they won’t even get the chance to do so if other senior players comes back from injury
My comment says Bissaka, not Hannibal
