Liverpool will be without key players for their Champions League last-16 first leg against Galatasaray, with Arne Slot confirming multiple injury concerns as his side travels to Istanbul

Liverpool and Galatasaray will both have to contend with several players being out of action for their Champions League showdown. The Reds are set to journey to Turkey to face the Super Lig team in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday evening.

Arne Slot and his team approach the match against Galatasaray following a 3-1 triumph over Wolves in the FA Cup last Friday.

The Reds will be eager to depart Istanbul with a win to take back to Anfield for the second leg next week, having suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Turkish side in their previous league encounter.

Slot will be forced to play the match against Galatasaray without some crucial players available to Liverpool. A new setback surfaced this week, and the Duthcman has left some players behind.

Liverpool will be missing goalkeeper Alisson Becker for the trip to Galatasaray, with the Brazilian staying in Merseyside after sustaining an injury in training. Consequently, Giorgi Mamardashvili is anticipated to start as goalkeeper for Liverpool on Tuesday night in Istanbul.

"Ali was in the session but unfortunately felt something towards the end," Slot revealed. "People looked at it, we decided together it was not good enough to play tomorrow and was no use of travelling."

Liverpool will also be without Federico Chiesa due to illness, as the Italian international was absent from Monday's open training session.

"Federico was not in the (training) session," Slot revealed. "He felt unwell last night so did not train with us today and did not travel with us."

Slot will also be missing Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni, all of whom are still out with long-term injuries.

As for Galatasaray, they have a few injury worries to contend with, but there are some players who remain on the sidelines. Goalkeeper Enes Emre Buyuk is ruled out with a shoulder injury.

Defender Arda Unyay is sidelined with injuries and was also not included in the Galatasaray squad submitted to UEFA for the second half of the season.
