Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has insisted professional footballers should not complain about the challenges of travel, explaining that the issue of frequent travel is part of their daily work.
Iwobi said this in response to a journalist who wanted to know the psychological and physical condition of the Nigerian players following the long journey from Fes to Marrakesh for the match against Algeria, before travelling again to Rabat for another match against Morocco.
Speaking with a firm stance, Iwobi said that despite the fact that players’ bodies need rest, fatigue caused by travel should not be used as an excuse to drop in performance on the field.
“As a professional footballer, you should not complain about the travel issue. It is true that our bodies are very demanding, but the issue of travel fatigue is not the main reason. We should be ready at all times,” said Iwobi.
Nigeria will face Morocco tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14, 2025, in the semi-finals.
