Accra Hearts of Oak SC have firmly stated that forward Hamza Issah remains a contracted player of the club amid swirling speculation about his future.
In an official statement released by management, the Ghana Premier League side clarified that Issah is still bound by a valid and legally enforceable employment agreement. The club stressed that no judicial, regulatory, or arbitral authority, including the Ghana Football Association Player Status Committee or FIFA, has ruled that the contract has been lawfully terminated.
Hearts of Oak rejected claims that they had persistently defaulted on financial obligations in a way that would amount to “just cause” for unilateral termination under FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. According to the statement, the club held two meetings with the player after receiving correspondence from his representatives and acted in good faith to address outstanding concerns.
Management also condemned what it described as the unauthorized release of confidential correspondence by the player’s representatives, labeling the act unprofessional and misleading. The club argued that such conduct undermines established ethical and regulatory standards in football administration.
The Phobians further raised concerns over the actions of South African outfit Siwele Football Club, accusing them of engaging the player and facilitating travel arrangements without notifying or obtaining consent from Hearts of Oak, despite the existence of an active contract. The club characterized the move as player inducement and unlawful interference with a subsisting contractual relationship, in breach of FIFA regulations.
As a result, Hearts of Oak confirmed that formal complaints have been lodged against ProSports International and Siwele Football Club with FIFA and other relevant authorities. The club says it is pursuing all available legal and regulatory avenues to safeguard contractual stability and protect its interests.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and regulatory compliance, Hearts of Oak urged supporters and stakeholders to rely exclusively on official communication channels for verified information regarding the matter.
