Al Ettifaq 1-1 Al Khaleej: Gerrard's side held after Vitinho 2nd-half eqauliser

Steven Gerrard's winning run as Al-Ettifaq manager ended with a 1-1 draw with Al-Khaleej on Thursday night.

Match Report

Portuguese winger Fabio Martins scored the opening goal of the game in the first half, as the away side's only shot on target secured a point.

Al-Ettifaq had more procession and controlled much of the game, but converted just one of their seven shots at goal.

Vitinho pulled his side back into the game with a goal after 50 minutes, but it failed to pull the hosts towards a victory.

Jordan Henderson, who joined his former club captain's side from Liverpool this summer, picked up a booking on the stroke of half time.

The draw has left Al-Ettifaq down at fifth in the league, while their opponents sit 11th after two draws and a win in their first three games.

Gerrard's men will next be in action against Damak on Saturday September 2, while Khaleej take on Al-Hazm on Tuesday.

Elsewhere on Thursday, Al-Hilal beat Al-Raed 3-0 after a debut goal for Aleksandar Mitrovic.
