Alexander Isak remained out of contention for Newcastle during their Premier League opener against Aston Villa amid links with Liverpool and Alan Shearer remains far from happy
Alan Shearer has slammed Alexander Isak for his lack of loyalty as his fallout with Newcastle rolls on. The Swedish striker remains banished from the first team after requesting to leave the club for Liverpool.
Isak refused to join the club on their pre-season tour of Asia in an attempt to force through an exit. And Shearer has now criticised Isak for his behaviour.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the Newcastle icon said: ““It has to have an effect on the group, there’s no doubt about it. That’s why there’s such anger in Newcastle with the fans.
“You’ve got a guy who’s on a hundred grand a week plus. Yet you’ve got the normal working bloke, who’s paying £60, £70 for a ticket to go to a match and that’s why it hurts them so much.
“You’ve got a guy who’s played a huge part in one Newcastle’s best seasons ever yet with three years left on his contract says ‘I don’t want to play for you anymore’. Look, loyalty in football is a no-go, neither from clubs or players - just look at the situation with Gianluigi Donnarumma and PSG this week.
“Look what's happened to him, the form he was in and what he did last year to help PSG achieve their dream, and yet the club come to him and say, 'We're getting rid of you, we don't fancy you anymore, despite what you've done for us.'
“So, where's the loyalty there? I get clubs and football players; there is no loyalty, clubs look after themselves, and players look after themselves, but there's a way of doing things. The way that Alex [Isak] is doing this at the moment is not the right way. It’s not a good look for him or his agent who obviously have got into him.”
Isak remained out of contention as Newcastle opened up their season with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. There now remains just over two weeks of the window remaining for the situation to be resolved.

Liverpool have already had one bid rejected, albeit Isak now appears to believe that his Newcastle career is already over. Boss Eddie Howe was slightly more optimistic though and is open to reintegrating the striker eventually.
Asked if he thinks there could be a way back for Isak, Howe replied: "Yes, I believe there is. But, of course, discussions and talks would need to take place for that to happen. But, again, that's for another day."

I think it is a professional misdemeanor, indictable and punishable, for a player under contract, under wages, to insist on abandoning his professional obligations to the club because he fancies another club. It is an aberration. It is a rebellion against the club. It is a professional felony at its maximum. Such shameless unprofessional conduct ought to be damned and sanctioned by the Regulating Authorities of Football across hierarchies levels of football management.
All this grammar no go solve anything 😂 The guys fighting for a brighter future give him a break, u that’s working at your office if Google or Tesla comes will u be talking about loyalty or your future

Absolutely 💯. It boggles my mind Liverpool are willing to have such a player. So if Madrid comes calling in 2yrs what then happens? Will they also keep same energy?. Absolutely ridiculous of Isak.

Isak is 25-26year, entering his prime or already at his prime. He aspires to win big titles like champions league and premier league, can Newcastle deliver that? Liverpool one of the most exciting teams with a solid project at the moment

You are too stubborn to admit he’s not ready to play for you anymore why don’t you sell him and replace him because he’s of no value the moment he’s out of form someone else will come in and replace him.
