Alan Shearer has questioned exactly what Ralf Rangnick and his staff do in Manchester United training following another damning defeat.
The Red Devils were well beaten 3-1 in Saturday's early kick-off by Arsenal following goals from Nuno Taveres, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka.
United are sixth in the table and six points behind Arsenal, who has played one game fewer, and Shearer believes Rangnick's side showed absolutely no reaction to being 'battered' by Liverpool at Anfield last week.
'New manager, they've been battered by Liverpool, changed personnel - left Harry Maguire out - so I'm thinking there's going to be a bit of a response, certainly in the first 20 or 30 minutes and there wasn't at all,' Shearer said on BBC 's Match of the Day programme.
'Within three minutes you've had three big mistakes: Varane and Telles make one and you've also got one from Dalot letting Tavares go.
'There was no pressing, no organisation, the understanding of when or how to press in this team zero, probably because they don't know how to do it or they are not working on it at all in training.
'They don't know how or when to do it… what they're doing on the training ground, I don't know, because it doesn't look like they're doing much in terms of the pressing.'
Rangnick took over as interim boss from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and arrived with a revered reputation as the 'Godfather of Gegenpressing'.
Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel are among those to cite Rangnick as an influence in their coaching careers.
But United have seen little-to-no upturn in form since the veteran German coach took the reins, particularly in their pressing game, which were lacking in a crunch game with Arsenal.
United's chances of a top-four finish now hang by a thread after the 3-1 loss to the Gunners in which a missed penalty from Bruno Fernandes and numerous other opportunities were spurned to get back into the match.
It has been a difficult season for United - who appointed Erik ten Hag last week as their new manager from next season - and midfielder Scott McTominay did not mince his words after a fifth defeat in their last eight games.
He said afterwards: 'There's a whole load of problems in terms of players, staff, everything higher up. There are a lot of things going on at the minute.'
Paul Scholes later revealed that Jesse Lingard told him the United dressing room is 'a disaster'.
Scholes said: 'It's an absolute mess. It's a disaster of a dressing room.
'I had a quick chat with Jesse the other day and I'm sure he won't mind me saying he said the dressing room is just a disaster.'
United have four games remaining to round out the season and they don't get any easier with European champions Chelsea next up at Old Trafford.
They will then face Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Being asking same question not just now but since the start of the season because seeing the underperforming players in the United players it makes one feel like they are not being taught anything at the training pitch. Taking Wan Bissaka for example, since he arrived the club his value and output has drastically reduced compared to how he played at Crystal Palace that made United splash out £50m during his transfer from Palace, no aspect of his game has improved since his arrival and I ask is there no coach in the United coaching/ tactical team that specialises in training the full backs how to cross the ball because Wan Bissaka with the ball is nothing to write home about, and same applies to other full backs in the team compared to other full backs in the EPL such as Arnold, Reece, Robert and co. I taught after games coaches and tactical teams review the game by watch the clips of the match to know the mistakes of each players and see how to solve them with the certain player in the training ground but watching United week in week out one can tell that nothing as such happens or should I say the players are the ones purposely making the mistakes or they are not being told their mistakes in the training ground. Maguire, is also another example of doing same mistakes every week, his positioning has been a problem for him since the start of the season and he here has never been an improvement on that part of his game and the United tactical team will say they are doing their job, I don’t think so because there’s no evidence they are doing their job. The whole United set up from the top to the bottom is really in a mess at the moment from the words of Lingard and Mc Tom I think United total cleansing from the head and not just the playing staff alone. In the coaching/tactical aspect I’m optimistic Ten Hag can handle that very well. The Woodward led executives in the past have done nothing but only splashing out United funds for players not worth it. Get players who are ready to play for the badge and not the ones that will just be sucking the £ and still underperforming.

All the Gen-gen pressing pundits were writing about to herald Ralf Ragnick's coming to Man United has turned to naught. We didn't see any pressing at all.

Don't blame this coach anymore, it's up to players to adapt to coach system not a coach to adapt to player's potential. It's possible to made all in one but not one in all you think the club must play in Rashford way, you think they should play in Telles way, should their play in Maguire is better system. So finally to retain which way. Get out all those who don't want to adapt to a coach system
I blame the sporting director that we have as manager 😂 and the players that have been overatted the past 8 years so and ofc the glazers and we've been blaming them since fergie left still no changes do fans not get the message they don't care and I'm pretty sure their focused on making a new team in America atm
