Alan Shearer snapped back at Gary Lineker and Micah Richards after the duo mocked him for bringing up PSG's controversial penalty against Newcastle.
The Magpies were on course for a famous win in Paris in the penultimate game of the Champions League group stages back in November. But in the eighth minute of injury time, the hosts were awarded a penalty for a controverisal handball, with Kylian Mbappe scoring.
That point helped the French giants to reach the knockouts and they have now progressed to the semi-finals after beating Barcelona. That win was in part thanks to a red-card for Barca star Ronald Araujo early in the first-half.
Shearer pointed out that PSG had earned the rub of the green once again. But his argument drew immediate mockery from Lineker and Richards, with the Newcastle icon jokingly telling the former Manchester City star to 'f*** off'.
"PSG again, they've had some luck in this competition by the way. Because remember that ridiculous decision, and I'm not just bringing it up because it's Newcastle, might not even be in that position if that decision wasn't given. I'm still bitter over it," Shearer said on The Rest Is Football podcast.
Lineker began the mockery by saying: "I can't remember the last time you mentioned it Alan." Richards then cheekily asked Shearer: "Were they in the Champions League, Newcastle?"
"F*** off," Shearer snapped back, before Lineker joked: "For a couple of weeks." Shearer then defended his former club for their early exit from the competition, pointing out the top two sides from their group are now in the final four.
"Hey we had the group of death, those two are now in the semi-finals. If you had said to me when Newcastle played them 'they'll be in the semi-finals of the Champions League', I'd have said 'no chance'," he said.
PSG boss Luis Enrique admitted Araujo's red card made a difference, but insisted that it presented problems for his side. The Spaniard was delighted the visitors made their advantage count to set up a semi-final against Borussia Dortmund.
"We are all very happy. Listen to our supporters singing in the stadium. Well, I think we just experienced a first match that we didn't expect to unfold like this. I believe, and I say it again, that the result of the first leg wasn't fair," Enrique said.
"And in the second leg, we were in the competition at every moment. It's obvious that the red card made a difference, but we are very happy for the confidence we felt from our supporters and the joy of reaching the semi-finals.
"Playing with a numerical advantage is always difficult because you tend to accumulate players in front of the ball and lose your structure and positioning, which makes it complicated. But I think the team played at a very high level."
