He may have been playing at right back against Barcelona but Trent Alexander-Arnold reminded me of Steven Gerrard the way he sprayed the ball around at Anfield.
At just 20, his reading of the game puts him one step ahead of his opponents.
His instrumental role in Liverpool’s decisive fourth goal shows he has the full package: intelligence to win the corner, invention to fool experienced defenders and clean, clinical striking of the ball to set up Divock Origi.
I do not see right back being Alexander-Arnold’s position for long.
He could thrive at the base of a midfield three — and that’s where he should play for England at the Nations League.
It would be the perfect way for Gareth Southgate to get both Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker in the team.

Keep him at right-back, look at Dani Alves🤔 He has done a lot for Barca from that position in his years there. Let the boy shine at RB

I have said it before, if Klopp is watching him closely he will know this deserves to play in the midfield
