Alexis Sanchez gets into shape in gym overlooking Copacabana beach

Alexis Sanchez missed out on the World Cup this summer after Chile failed to qualify - but on the basis of his Instagram, we should not feel too sorry for him.

Certainly the Manchester United forward is enjoying himself in Brazil rather than Russia as he keeps in shape during the off season.

Sanchez shared a video on social media showing him in a gym overlooking the stunning Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.

In the clip, a topless Sanchez films himself surrounded by gym equipment as samba music plays in the background.

As he pans around the room, we see that he is joined by his girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez, who is also working out.

Sanchez then switches the camera direction around to show the stunning view outside his gym window, with the whole sweep of Copacabana below.

Sanchez tops the story off with an envy-inducing selfie over the balcony, with the white sand and blue sea in the background.

The forward will soon have to leave South America behind however and return to England, with pre-season training at United just around the corner.

In just over two weeks, Sanchez and United will begin their programme of pre-season friendlies, taking on Club America in the USA on July 19.

They will play several lucrative fixtures before the 2018-19 Premier League season starts, with United facing Leicester City at Old Trafford in their opener.
