Alexis Sanchez has urged Manchester United to make big signings if they want to compete with their rivals.
Sanchez, who joined United from Arsenal in January on a £500,000-a-week deal, admits United still need more top-quality players.
‘Manchester United have to go out with the intention of winning everything that’s put before them,’ he said.
‘We’re a big club. We’ve had a mixed pre-season and what we’ve got to start doing now is putting things right in training. At United we have to sign big players with experience.
‘Barcelona just signed Arturo Vidal, who is a great player and my team-mate from Chile. He is an example of the type of players we need to sign in order to win trophies and compete at the highest level.’
United were on Wednesday night believed to be close to clinching their fourth transfer of the summer before the window closes at 5pm on Thursday.
Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his wish for at least one more player amid growing tension between the manager and Old Trafford chief Ed Woodward.
United have spent £75million on Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant, but Mourinho fears it will not be enough to close the gap on champions Manchester City.
Keeping Paul Pogba is central to United’s plans as the Frenchman continues to angle for a move to Barcelona.
The club on Wednesday reiterated that Pogba is not for sale and said he has not asked for a pay rise to stay. Mourinho will face the media on Thursday morning to preview Friday night’s season opener at home to Leicester City.
If there are no new arrivals at Old Trafford, the press conference is likely to be a feisty affair.

The cheek of this player to say to splash the cash when he rocked the wage structure of £500k a week and causes friction among the existing players. Now, Can Woodward sell him to other clubs which are willing to pay his present salary? If not, means other clubs don't value his worth as a striker ! Overpaid and not contributing to the team. So, hopefully, he can score 30 goals this season and repay back his worth to the Club. Otherwise, an overvalued and overpaid ordinary player. Woodward has to answer for his over indulgence in agreeing to this worthless so called striker's salary!

We are wanting to spend and but we don't know where exactly the problem is?? We want top signings but we have to offload some as well. Fellaini was great at the world cup for his few appearances but I don't think he has a place at Old Trafford anymore, Pereira can go off on loan. That is in midfield and the likes of Rebic and Perisic is music to United's ears but of course one must go and I can vote Martial out. Rojo has been the odd man out to leave but I still don't understand what Jones or Smalling are still doing at our club, they are not or ever been United's quality defenders they are just lucky they ate Englishman. I am now behind the manager because if we can't get another one, then let's just support him, he has to be firm, make a fixed line up with that 4-3-3 formation and not make unnecessary changes but also help players like Martial to feel good the club, encourage and trust them then we can see amazing results

iam sure, man u are going to lose a lot of fan following in the world, coz of their transfer policy, they always thinking abt business, not for the history or passion for the billon of fan following in the world, they're look like a ordinary middle class team in depth..they shoud try for modrich or kross & mbappe or hazard or dybala type of attackers..
