Alternative angle of Kane’s ‘dive’ has emerged and it has got fans talking

Harry Kane’s penalty decision caused a lot of controversies as fans argued whether the Tottenham Hotspur star went down far too easily. 

With a game between Spurs and Everton poised at 0-0 as the game approached the hour mark, Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford spilt a shot and went rushing out to collect, however, Kane got there ahead of his England teammate and went down after a challenge by Pickford. 

A penalty was awarded by referee Paul Tierney, with many rival fans showing their discontent over the decision on social media. 

One fan said: “Not one football fan on this planet will be shocked to hear that Spurs are 1 nil up from a Kane penalty from a Kane dive. It’s like groundhog day…” 

Another tweeted: “Kane dived again and nothing said.”

A third fan added: “Kane is such a cheat. That’s a massive dive. He throws his leg into Pickford’s head.” 

However, an alternative angle of Pickford’s challenge may have squashed all the talk about Kane diving for the penalty. You can watch the footage below. 

The angle seems to back the fact that Kane was impeded by the Everton goalkeeper. 

This has got fans talking once again after Spurs’ victory. 

One person said: “This is the only angle I’ve seen, no idea on relevance to the game, I have no love fro Kane or Pickford. That’s a clear penalty from that angle.”

Another fan commented: “Anyone who thinks that isn’t a penalty is an idiot. And that’s from an Arsenal fan who hates Kane.”

A third fan said: “The fact that Pickford lunged for the ball and didn’t get it, followed by his facedown reaction made it extremely obvious that Kane got taken out.”

Kane dispatched the penalty as Spurs went 1-0 up, Pierre Emile Hojbjerg’s fine finish in the 86th minute sealed all three points for Antonio Conte’s side as they moved to within a point of leaders Arsenal. 

After the match, Conte told Sky Sports: “I was not surprised but to see the intensity we played with tonight in this game it was for me really positive because it means if you work in the right way the performance of your player is always up.

“We played only two days ago but I've seen my players run from the start to the end and I'm really delighted especially for the players because this performance repays the effort they do every day in the training session.”
