Amad Diallo's loan move from Manchester United to Feyenoord has been thrown into doubt after he picked up an injury in training.

Feyenoord sporting director Frank Arnesen is awaiting a full assessment of the injury before deciding whether to press ahead.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær confirmed a club had been lined up for 19-year old Amad following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

Crystal Palace and Sheffield United had made enquiries but United are close to agreement with Feyenoord who finished fifth in the Dutch league last season.

Solskjær said: ‘Yes, I do expect Amad to go out on loan. It’s not 100 per cent signed but we have agreed. I don’t have to say which team it is yet but we have found a place that Amad feels excited about and we feel excited about.’

Amad joined from Atalanta in January for an initial £20million but the Ivory Coast international faces a tough task to make an impression on United’s first team stage following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Ronaldo.

United will also consider loan requests for Wales international Daniel James after initially telling clubs he would stay. Everton and Leeds United have asked to be kept informed of any developments.

Full-back Diogo Dalot is however expected to stay despite interest from Borussia Dortmund who had asked to take the Portuguese international on loan.
