Chido Obi is under consideration for a place in Manchester United’s squad at Tottenham on Sunday, head coach Ruben Amorim has indicated.
United have more injury problems and although Amorim wouldn’t name names at his pre-match press conference, he confirmed that Obi has been called into first-team training this week.
The 17-year-old Dane has been a revelation for United’s junior teams since joining from Arsenal in October, and scored a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup win over Chelsea in midweek.
Amorim said: ‘We had some problems this week. We called some players to be in our training so we have the data and evaluation, and he is one of them.’
Asked for a fitness update on Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans, Amorim added: ‘It was a good week until two days ago.
‘We had some problems also. We don’t have players back, we have one or two issues, but we are waiting. We have one player who is sick so we will see the team at weekend.
‘Every game until the end of the season is a big game for us. We need to win no matter what, and we need to win and to improve the way we play football.’
Amorim was also asked about the progress of players prospering away from Old Trafford with Antony performing well on loan at Real Betis and Scott McTominay helping Napoli to the top of Serie A after leaving Old Trafford for Italy in the summer.
‘Sometimes it’s like that,’ he said.
‘It can happen in any club. This is a club with a lot of pressure and in this club you have to have a base with younger players, talented players, coming to a team with one strong base. In the moment we don’t have that.
‘You feel it in (Patrick) Dorgu. He was a little bit nervous in the first moment. You need to cope with the pressure, but sometimes they go to other clubs and are freer with no pressure.’

You that think Amorim is not good for United, why can't you go and take the job and see what other coaches are seeing, you guys are only good in criticism but knows nothing about football.

Did Amorin just confirmed the freedom Sancho talked about in Rashford's post?
Sancho should focus on playing football, rather than talking about freedom.

Ten Hag isn't performing well, and neither is Amorim. So, who would be a good option? When Pep Guardiola first arrived at Manchester City, he faced defeats both at home and away in his first year, similar to Jurgen Klopp's experience. Both coaches were given the time they needed to adjust during their second seasons, which helped them understand the league better and ultimately led them to win trophies. If Manchester United decides to sack Amorim, which coach would you recommend they hire?
