ALAN SHEARER suggested Ruben Amorim may be sacked after Manchester United's "embarrassing" Europa League heartbreak.
United saw their Champions League hopes go up in flames after losing 1-0 to Tottenham on Wednesday's final at San Mames following an uninspiring performance.
Man Utd are now set for their worst ever Premier League finish as well as a 2025-26 campaign without European football and that has raised questions regarding Amorim's future at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese tactician sensationally claimed he would walk away with no pay-off if the Red Devils' board and fans decide his time is up.
However, the 40-year-old still has support from the powers that be and is expected to rebuild with a massive squad overhaul despite missing out on a £100million windfall.
Nevertheless, Shearer, 54, wouldn't be surprised if the ex-Sporting Lisbon boss was let go.
The Premier League's record goalscorer insists the Manchester giants are "so much worse" now under Amorim than what they were before his arrival in November.
United were seven points off a Champions League spot when the Portuguese boss took over but now are a remarkable TWENTY SEVEN points off fifth spot.
Shearer told Betfair: "There will be a lot of questions around Ruben Amorim’s future now and very much like the Spurs situation, it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't the manager at the beginning of the season. Whether that's his choice or not, I guess.
"I've said it so many times, there's no way he's gone into that football club and expected what he found.
"There's no way he thought it was that bad. He couldn't have, because I'm not sure you'd go.
"He hasn't helped the situation. They've actually got so much worse under him.
"It might have been papering over the cracks if they had won the Europa League, but their problems were summed up in that 97 minutes: no creativity, no legs, no energy, no goals, and a complete mess."
Shearer didn't hold back when discussing United's overall performance in the Europa League Final.
The Newcastle legend dubbed Man Utd's display as an "embarrassment" that exposed how all their transfer money was wasted.
Shearer added: "Manchester United were relying on a centre-half, with long balls into the box in the last 15 or 20 minutes of the game, and that sort of sums up who and what they've come to.
"It's a pretty embarrassing situation when you're looking to a centre-half to rescue you, as he did in the semi-final and a couple of times by playing in that centre-forward position.
"That's who and what Man United have come to now. That's the embarrassing thing; the money they've spent, especially on strikers, yet they're chucking a centre-half up front for the last 15 minutes of the game and launching long balls up to him. That's how bad Man United are."

There are so many talented Players in MU, be it in the Team, the Academy, or on loan or sold to others. Amorim couldn't appreciate all the Talents he had, but play to his rule to get his game. He knew he could not, but his ego to tell HIS SYSTEM WORK, is in fact a slow cancer killing everyone in the Team. He claimed he had the worst Team in MU history. l beg to differ, MU has the worst Head Coach & Manager in their History. period. MU better take another Manager that can rebuild the Team by maximising the current batch of Players, be it in the current Team, or away on loan or sold with share rights on future sales. No need NEW BUY. Those Players sold or on loan to others proven they could excel under other Managers. That a solid proof that it not always the Manager that shoo them away is right. lt the Manager's attitude, instead of blaming that the Player shortcoming not having the right behaviour to be in his preferred Team Players. Enough said, let other Manager, many there a British that MU could depend on, instead looking for Foreign Managers in often labelled as Farmer's Leagues.

Amorim being hard headed trying a bunch of Ballet Dancers to act Tango. His insistence on that creates mismatch of skill required to uplift the games he supposed to before the season over, so he could overhaul the Team to his System. ln summary, he creates his failure & that being a young Manager & Head Coach, will be an expensive experience that will carry him into the future. But sadly, his future couldn't be in MU. He better take his stride to recover elsewhere. The damage has been done so deep, the moral all time low, & the faith has been rock-bottom. To total rebuild the Team just too expensive with many the right candidates will reluctant to join when no Continental games to look for next Season, & the current batch of incumbents just too exphensive for other Teams to catch. He could only salvage his pride & ego with the price of his adamant mindset & frequently said ' l will not change '. He don't want to change, even to tweak a little, for the sake of the Team's better ability. lnstead he asking everyone else to change for him. That is Amorim's biggest mistake. & he need to pay for the price of his Ego.

This guy must resign as manager of Man Utd. He never improve the squad, in fact the squad performance is got worse. The board must sack him after season over. Please don't ever replicate the mistake which Man Utd does last summer,. Retaining ETH.

exactly my observations. why sit Ganuacho on bench in such match? he and Amad would've given Spurs defenders a run for their money.
definitely wright , Amad and Garnacho would have combined well

he lost 18 games in the Premier League , played well in the Europa League hoping to lift but failed to select his starting eleven by fielding Luck Shaw and Merson Mount instead of Garnacho, Zirkee upfront and when he introduced them they started showing god signs of scoring but unfortunately Spurs defended very well until the last secong f the injury time without Maddison and forward Kulursesky

Everyone is pouring insults on United, but for the goal, they where far better than spurs. Sometimes u can control something happening, like the go that defender brought out from the goal bound or the last kick the keeper tip away. Now is all United and no one talking about how spurs was also.

Ruben Amorim had the worstest record so far ever since have been supporting this great club. imagine, yesterday europa league final makes it 3 matches winless against Tottenham in a season under his reign. For how long are we going to continue like this?

As a true football fan, I urge Amorim not to WALK AWAY from his contract. If Manchester United don't want you as the club manager anymore, they should sack you. It will be unfair. europa trophy is not a must win in your contract.
