Antonio Conte denies Inter Milan will be making any transfer moves

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte says the club has no plans to make new signings in the January transfer window.

Inter are currently second in Serie A behind rivals AC Milan, and the league leaders have pulled further ahead after Inter's draw against Roma on Sunday.

However, after the game Conte said that he will have to 'work with the players' he has right now rather than bring in new faces to compete.

'The verb "want" does not exist this season,' said the Italian when asked about fresh signings. 'In August I was informed about the club's strategies. We signed [Achraf] Hakimi in April and nobody else arrived afterwards.

'The strategy is clear. I want nobody. I work with these players. We have strengths and weaknesses, but that's who we are.

'Forget the Inter of the last transfer window, that's what I was told.'

Despite this, Inter are reportedly interested in bringing in Manchester United's Jesse Lingard on a loan deal.

The 28-year-old's Old Trafford career has stalled dramatically in the last 12 months, with the academy product barely used by Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes.

It is thought Conte will make a move for Lingard, who he admires greatly, if the club can offload Christian Eriksen.

If Inter can strengthen and overtake AC Milan, it will be their best chance in a long time of breaking the dominance over Serie A held by Juventus, who are currently down in fourth.

Inter are four points clear over the reigning champions, however they have played an extra game.
