Antony 'centre of £20million payment war' following move to Manchester United

Manchester United's new £85.5million signing Antony is reportedly at the centre of a payment war involving rival agents.

The Brazilian completed his long-awaited move to Old Trafford from Ajax last week following a summer of speculation linking him with the move.

However, there is still said to be some drama surrounding the move, with the Mirror reporting that three parties are claiming they played the biggest part in the South American's switch to the Premier League.

It's said that the Forza Sports Group, owned by Revien Kanhai claimed they did the deal and labelled it as the 'worldwide biggest transfer this year'.

The Brazilian's agent Junior Pedroso disputes that claim saying he held the controlling influence in the deal.

On top of that, Sports Entertainment Group (SEG), who also handed Erik ten Hag's move to Old Trafford, are believed to have acted as United's advisors in the mammoth deal.

Antony's transfer to Old Trafford makes him their second biggest signing ever, behind the £89m that United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba back in 2016.

Asked about Antony, who he previously worked with at Ajax, Ten Hag said: 'He proved himself already. Champions League, Brazilian national team and Olympic gold medalist.

'Brazil has a number of players so high talented. You can select two or three teams and he can deal with the pressure. He will bring temperament and creativity.

'Also for him it is a new start and he has to adapt to the team, to the Premier League and to the high intensity. But I'm sure he will adapt.'

Asked about whether the size of the transfer fee could impact Antony's performance, Ten Hag replied: 'He can deal with that. He lives for football and enjoys it. He is focusing on that and to improve his game for the team. When he is doing that, performances will come.'

The Antony transfer concluded a busy window for ten Hag and United with six players arriving at a total cost of over £206million.

United also brought in Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Martin Dubravka.
