Arsenal have activated their option to buy David Raya from Brentford for £27m.

Following a successful loan spell last campaign, Raya will now sign for the Gunners on a permanent basis.

Raya made 41 appearances for Arsenal last season in all competitions and kept 20 clean sheets. He won the Premier League golden glove award, with 16 shutouts in the league.

The Spaniard replaced Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper and fits how manager Mikel Arteta wants to play.

Raya is currently away with Spain at Euro 2024 but has only played one game at the tournament so far.

Arsenal have yet to formally announce the signing of Raya, but the 28-year-old is still listed on the club's website accompanied by a picture of him in the new kit.

Having previously been at Blackburn, Raya signed for Brentford in 2019.

In total, Raya played 161 times for Brentford and helped them to earn promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

Arsenal's third-choice goalkeeper Karl Hein recently signed a new contract with the club.
