Arsenal could sign Justin Kluivert in Roma transfer swap for Mkhitaryan (CdS)

Arsenal could sign Justin Kluivert from Roma in a swap deal that would see Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way, according to a report from Italy.

Gunners midfielder Mkhitaryan has made a positive impression during his season-long loan with Roma, and the two clubs are in negotiations over a permanent switch.

But a sticking point appears to be Arsenal's £10million asking price for Mkhitaryan, with Roma reportedly trying to haggle them down.

Kluivert, the 21-year-old son of Holland legend Patrick, has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal.

The winger's agent is Mino Raiola, who also represents Mkhitaryan, and it appears a swap deal could be a solution to the impasse.

That's according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, who report that the players could go in opposite directions with the Gunners paying up to £13m on top.

Kluivert, who can play on either wing, was regarded as one of the hottest young properties in Europe when he joined Roma from Ajax for £15m two years ago

His progression has not fully gone to plan, with Kluivert having scored seven goals in 27 appearances for Roma this season.

However, many believe he has the talent to rise to the top of his game - like his dad, who starred for Barcelona and AC Milan and won 79 caps for the Netherlands.

Kluivert junior was believed to be a target for Manchester United when he left Ajax in 2018 - but his dad reckoned he made the right move in switching to Roma.

"I'm very satisfied with what he is doing," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"A jump to the Premier League would have been difficult... I think United would have been too big a jump. Roma is an important club, but the pressures are lower."
