Arsenal duo Timber and White edge closer to return from injury

Arsenal defenders Ben White and Jurrien Timber have both offered updates on their injuries, with the former close to a return.

White suffered a knee injury during Arsenal's dramatic 1-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium in May and subsequently missed their Champions League final and England's World Cup campaign.

The 28-year-old's last two seasons with the Gunners have been plagued by injury, with the right-back making just 29 appearances in the Premier League since the start of 2024-25.

However, White revealed after plenty of rehab during the off-season, he returned to team training in Marbella last week.

"I've just been training every day, really," White told Arsenal's social media team when asked about his summer.

"Knee's all good. Started training back with the team last week."

Timber, meanwhile, suffered a groin injury against Everton back in March and missed the Gunners' Premier League run-in.

While he managed to make an appearance off the bench in the Champions League final, Timber was dropped from Netherlands' World Cup squad due to the injury.

Among Arsenal players last season, Timber won the second-most tackles (87), recorded the fourth-most interceptions (33) and won the fifth-most duels (191) across all competitions.

When asked about his return, Timber said: "Getting there slowly, trying hard, rehabbing during the summer, hopefully back soon."

Arsenal face Girona, Real Betis, Borussia Dortmund and Como in pre-season before the Community Shield on August 16, when they take on Manchester City.

The Gunners host Coventry City in the first game of the 2026-27 Premier League season on August 21.
