Leah Williamson and Beth Mead have both been included in England’s squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, with Erica Meg Parkinson also receiving her first call-up.

Mead was not included in England’s last squad in February due to injury, but is back in the fold after recovering.

Williamson, meanwhile, has missed Arsenal’s last three matches with a hamstring issue, but has initially been included in the hopes she will recover in time for their match against Spain on April 14.

Parkinson, meanwhile, is the only new face in Sarina Wiegman’s squad after scoring four goals in 18 matches for Portuguese side Valadares Gaia in all competitions.

The 17-year-old only received her call-up for England’s Under-23s in December, having worked her way through the youth set-up, reaching the Under-17s Euros final and the U17s World Cup semis.

"She's a dynamic, attacking midfielder; she wants to go forward. She's also very aggressive and pretty technical," Wiegman said of Parkinson.

"She was surprised. Well, first of all, she was speechless. But she was very happy, and surprised, and excited.

"I just hope she adapts quickly, and I hope that with everyone who comes in for the first time.

"It's normal you are a bit anxious, but just go out there and enjoy yourself as much as possible and try to adapt to the level as quickly as possible too."

England will be without Aggie Beever-Jones, Grace Clinton and Ella Toone for the two games in April, with all three sidelined by injury.

After hosting Spain, England will then travel to Iceland four days later. They currently sit top of their group on goal difference – ahead of La Roja – after winning their opening two matches.
