RIO FERDINAND and Des Kelly called out Arsenal fans' early exodus from the Emirates during a devastating 2-0 loss against Aston Villa.
Shock home defeats for the Gunners and Liverpool left Manchester City two points clear amid a pivotal weekend for the Premier League title race.
But pundits like Manchester United legend Ferdinand struggled to accept Arsenal supporters streaming out well ahead of the final whistle.
Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins struck on 84 and 87 minutes as Villa went three points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham with a deserved victory.
And ex-England defender Ferdy shared a picture of fast-emptying seats behind the goal as he wrote: "Early train Arsenal fans??? Ffs."
Former long-serving BT Sport broadcaster Kelly posted an even sparser image from the touchline stands and added: "With 8 mins still to go..?"
One viewer labelled the home crowd "an embarrassing set of fans".
Another observer responded: "The title race is not over, the players need to feel their support more than ever."
Ferdinand's displeasure over the disappearing Emirates audience won plenty of backing on social media.
"Rio is cooking," said one football enthusiast.
And another added: "Shocking support when your team really needs it. 75% of fans had left once 2 nil down."
Inevitably, of course rival supporters joined the taunts from the wider football audience.
"Yep, fire drill started at 1 nil down," mocked one, while a few dubbed the early-leavers "plastic" fans.
One supporter tried to hit back by posting: "95th minute, 2-0 down with no chance to win, why wait around?"
But he came under instant fire from replies like: "Thatโs with 2 and half minutes left, it was empty with 7 and half to go."

Who told you Man City are superhumans? Who says they are gods, they will not make mistakes, and blunder and get weak? What makes you think they will not drop points to Chelsea, Spurs, Wolves or relegation-threatening teams? Where is your faith Arsenal supporters? Can't we wait for the season to end before we conclude???

Let us keep our faith alive Arsenal. Man City may drop points with Chelsea, Wolves and Spurs. They may even drop points in teams we don't expect just like what happened to Liverpool. No one expected that loss. We are so unfair, unreasonable, and ungrateful to Arteta and the team. It is time to cheer them up. They are not machines. Even machines do fail and get accidental

Arsenal have done so much to get to this level of football where they are even competing for league title, 2 nil down can't warrant the amount of disrespect their fans give back to the team. this was so disappointing on the part of supporters.

this players have been exceptional this season and a little slip and the fans have turn their back on them
you are funny, do you think it's okay for fans to be expectant and not get nothing, they are the ones paying to watch and the players get payed and at the end it's for nothing, last season this was the same scenario, this season again and you expect them to stay and do what exactly.

Dropping Jorginho and replacing him with lazy Havetz in the middle of the pack was the biggest mistake of the season, Villa have a very strong midfield-that battle was list in the midfield as Rice was fighting alone which drained him
Good observation

This Arsenal team is different from Arsenal than the Arsenal played against Brighton i saw a great belief that they can do it and learned from their mistake. If you compare the loss of Liverpool and Arsenal Liverpool just give everything but cant win the game. but Arsenal they look tired they don't have guts to attack pressuring Aston Villa team they just sit in the back remain dormant the whole match no body want to be a difference maker even if Arteta tweak little things the team never help him. It is just poor form i don't know if they need reset again
the coach is also to blame in his squad selection. he has proper holding midfielders in Jorginho n Party but he decides to Play Rice who is a no.8 on the holding role. why was Martnelli on the bench. why starting Zinchenko when we all know that is not good at defending. Havertz n Jesus what were they doing the whole 90mins.

Guardiola's altar is a strong one, if he prays to Jesus he must be devoted n the other side he's really into it

Winning formula is to start with Martinelli, Odegard and Suka. Trussard will always be a good super sub to turn things around and Jesus jinxed the game sometimes.
when odendaal was replaced the ego and general attitude was very different in fact one could see when the first kick started, the coach for me changing the winning formula has been the cause of arsenal for loosing a home game

The Title Race is now almost over, Man City are surely lifting the cup once again. Arsenal had a superb opportunity to be in an apex position and to keep things In their own hands. Now whatever little hope is there it's only in the Champions League unless they don't choke in Munich.

It takes more than just winning a few games to be a champion the spirit of players and fans must be together in the willingness to win that trophy. The DO or DIE spirit must be there?
