Arsenal fans worry star may leave after wife’s cryptic Instagram posts

Arsenal fans are sweating over the future of one of their regular starters after his wife appeared to share 'goodbye' posts from the Emirates.

Supporters worry she was hinting at a potential exit for the star, whose contract expires at the end of next season.

Arsenal enjoyed their final home match of the season on Sunday as they downed Newcastle 1-0 - the first time they have beat Eddie Howe's men in four attempts this campaign.

Declan Rice's barnstorming strike ensured Champions League football for next season and second spot in the table for a third year on the trot.

However, Leandro Trossard's wife Hilven shared some emotional snaps, leading to speculation on social media that he could be leaving.

Such thoughts should be taken with a pinch of salt at this stage - Mail Sport exclusively revealed earlier this month that Arsenal had opened talks about extending his deal until 2029.

Laura reposted a photograph a friend had taken in the stands with the caption: 'Grateful for the beautiful moments, you are beautiful inside and out.'

She went on to share a snap with Bukayo Saka's girlfriend Tolami Benson, writing: 'My twingirl forever. Love you.'

Those two posts, though hardly saying anything, were enough to light the touchpaper of speculation in fan circles on X.

'These captions are sounding a little too much like goodbye, please no Trossard, I can’t do this,' one fan said on X.

'I feel sickkkk Trossard give me onetwothreefourfive more years my boy please,' another begged.

Another has apparently taken the posts as confirmation, writing: 'Will miss him man, all the best Leandro.'

One said: 'It’s weird cause I thought it was time for him to move on but I also secretly don’t want him to go.'

Another had a more rational response, writing: 'I think you've read too much into this. I don't see a goodbye here.'

While Trossard's contract expires next summer, his current deal does have a one-year extension clause to 2027.

Arsenal turned down a bid from Al Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League for Trossard in September, and clubs in the league are understood to be pursuing him again this summer.

The development comes ahead of a summer in which Arsenal are in the market for a striker and left winger.

For Trossard, it's a major coup - he would be 34 by the time the new deal would expire.

It's understood that his high levels of fitness in terms of longevity was a contributing factor to a lengthy proposed deal from Arsenal, which is not the norm for players aged over 30.
