It is fair to say that Arsenal have endured a nightmare season on all fronts in the Premier League.
Ever since their first league defeat of the season to champions-elect Liverpool at Anfield on August 24, the Gunners have faltered week after week and arguably their top four hopes never even got going.
Arsenal have astonishingly managed just six wins in the Premier League this season, claiming just a measly 31 points from 25 matches.
Only Watford and Norwich - both 19th and 20th respectively in the Premier League - have won fewer games than the Gunners, who are only seven points off the relegation zone despite their array of talent up top.
It is Arsenal's lowest tally of wins for 107 years since the 1912-13 season, in which was their last campaign in their original home of Woolwich, Kent at the time, before moving to north London and Highbury.
And in that campaign, 'Woolwich Arsenal' ended up getting relegated for the only time in the club's history as they picked up just 18 points to finish bottom of the English first division.
They claimed just three wins all season (two points for victory at the time), while drawing 12 and losing a massive 23 to pick up just 18 points - 10 away from safety.
The last time the Gunners had fewer points after 25 league matches was during the 1975-76 campaign.
They also won just six times in their opening 25 league games, drawing eight and losing 11 times, picking up a miserable 20 points before eventually finishing 17th with 36 points.
These alarming stats will come as grim reading for Arsenal supporters, who have endured an extremely disheartening season as they continue to fall further away from the Premier League summit.
Arsenal's six victories this season have come against Newcastle, Burnley - their opening two games of the campaign - Aston Villa, Bournemouth, West Ham and Manchester United.
They also have a negative goal difference of -2 as they continue to struggle in front of goal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who sits joint-third in the Premier League goalscoring charts with 14 to his name, almost has half of Arsenal's 32 strikes.
Unai Emery paid the price for a woeful run of form when he was sacked as manager back on November 29 after losing the faith of Arsenal supporters for his overly pragmatic approach.
Freddie Ljungberg took over on a caretaker basis on November 29 following a winelss run of seven games but his appointment couldn't turn Arsenal's fortunes around.
During his six games in charge, Arsenal won just once - beating West Ham 3-1 at the London Stadium - while losing at home to Brighton and being easily overcome by Manchester City 3-0.
Mikel Arteta was the man tasked with ushering in a new era at the Emirates but while there have certainly been signs of improvements, controlling the tempo of the game more and showing more solidity at the back, results have yet to follow.
Arteta's highlight as Arsenal manager so far came when the Gunners beat United 2-0 at the Emirates on New Year's Day thanks to goals from Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis.
It was hoped that performance would set the blueprint going forward under Arteta but that hasn't materialised.
The winter break comes as a blessing for Arsenal, who continue to look shot of confidence in every department.
Arteta will be desperate to return to winning ways when the Gunners' Premier League season resumes at home to Newcastle on February 16

Comparing the NFL with the EPL is comparing apples and oranges. Both leagues operate in different markets and in different environments.
I am not comparing NFL and BPL....I am talking about the investment.

$1.6 Billion....This is the amount that Kreonke family has spent on their NFL team LA Rams stadium. Whereas Arsenal was forced to make do with players like David Luiz, Sokratis, Mustafi, Xhaka, Guendouzi. Arsenal are forced to work with the youth players. Arteta is not a magician. He will need support and we all know he will not get that from Kreonke.

Wenger era was even better compared to the day he left the club. Actually our owner and board is not going to help us with this kind of stingy attitude of theirs. FIRE BURN THEM ALL....🔥🔥🔥🔥

Until we off load at least 6 of the main squad, we are going no where... arteta needs quality to implement his ideas.. No manager can make half that team any better...
You're right....we need to offload Ozil,Laca,Xhaka,Socratis & buy better players

Poor transfer decisions (selling Iwobi, Releasing Ramsey, Loaning Miki so as to rely on kids) poor squad selection & poor substitutions has contributed in some way to this poor performance. But I remain optimistic that after this break we will come back stronger.

Other than intensity and defensive organization, the improvement under Arteta hasn't been profound, but who can blame him, no matter how hard u try, no one can polish a piece of shite... we need to overhaul this next summer and stop the Auba on the wing thing, it is painful to watch, he should be focusing on his poaching abilities by now, he's 30yrs old, not running down the wing like a bewildered teenager
