Liverpool are closing in on their 19th league title, with Arsenal again falling just short in their quest for a first Premier League trophy since 2004.
Former midfielder Ray Parlour was part of the last Gunners side that achieved that feat 21 years ago.
But despite more than two decades passing since that moment, Parlour believes his former side are on the verge of Premier League glory - if they can bring a proven striker to the club in the next transfer window.
And there’s one player he says Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta should go all out to sign.
“I believe Arsenal will look to strengthen in attack and sign a top striker in the summer,” Parlour says. “With the new sporting director confirmed in Andrea Berta, his main task will be to secure the signing of a number 9.
“I believe Alexander Isak fits well into Arsenal’s style, and with his movement and understanding of the game, he would be a big asset to Arsenal. He runs in behind, scores all types of goals and is proven in the Premier League.
“It’s a shame Arsenal weren’t able to recruit in January, but that’s gone now, and this summer, I’m very confident Arsenal will get the striker they want and then give the Premier League a real go next season.
“I believe they didn’t go big in the January window because they wanted to get the new sporting director in place.”
Sweden star Isak has netted 20 goals for Newcastle this season, placing him one behind Erling Haaland and seven behind Mohamed Salah in the Premier League goalscoring charts. The 25-year-old is currently 60/1 with NetBet to finish the season as the Premier League's top scorer.
Parlour, who made almost 500 appearances for the North London club, winning four FA Cups and three league titles, has also backed a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
As well as NetBet Sport offering great odds for this season’s Champions League and Premier League title race, NetBet Casino has welcome offers and promotions available, including 100 free spins for new customers who play £10*.
Sport promotions include a £5 free bet for the the second FA Cup semi-final for customers who have a £5 qualifying bet on Saturday's semi-final, Wheel of Sportune, a £5,000 Premier League Correct Score Predictor, and an opportunity to win a Real Madrid shirt each La Liga matchday**.
When asked who his standout player of the season has been, Parlour pointed to a young star who has made his mark on the team in spectacular fashion this season.
“You have to look at Myles Lewis-Skelly for his breakthrough into the first team at such a young age,” he said.
“Coming through the academy, he knows the Arsenal way and what it means to play for the first team. He is well-grounded, has a good family behind him, who I’ve met, and he can go on and have a big career.”
Ray Parlour’s dream Arsenal side
Former Arsenal invincible Parlour has picked the Arsenal team he believes can win next season’s Premier League title.
Formation: 4-3-3

Defence: Lewis-Skelly, Gabriel, Saliba, Timber
Midfield: Rice, Odegaard, Partey/Zubimendi
Forwards: Saka, Isak, Martinelli

You may suggest any player you like for Arsenal to sign but at the end Barela will come up with even a better and suitable player or players for Arsenal. But is Arteta the right coach? I don't see Arteta winning any trophies with Arsenal whatever striker joins in.

Just go for the ones that are available and easier to get than wasting all of our energy, efforts, time and resources on someone that we will not sign at the end
exactly because at the end of the window transfer it will be all rumours arsenal is going to this player en that player only for the window to close without signing any they should rather go for cheap en recruit him themselves

Alexander is too expensive , there are many good strikers like him in Europe , wasting 150million on one player would be a joke rather than signing strikers like Benjamin Sesko , Osman, Victor Gyokeres and others

plus adding two players to help Saka and Martinelli (as super subs), and they need to clear their old guard of Jorginho, Sterling, Zincheko, Tomiyasu, Jesus, Neto, ....and keep squad players such as Trossard, Nwaneri, White, and Merino
