Arsenal news as Stan Kroenke receives telling feeling from XFL side St. Louis Battlehawks supporters after his previous events in the county

Stan Kroenke's name isn't greeted with pleasant wording in St. Lous. The U.S billionaire is the owner of a number of sports teams but has unpopular opinions amongst the second-largest city in Missouri.

In the USA, Kroenke was involved in a contentious move that saw his name tarnished in St. Louis. In 2016, he relocated the St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles, 20 years after buying a 30 per cent stake in the Rams to help then-majority owner Georgia Frontiere relocate the team back to St. Louis from Los Angeles.

The Rams initially played in Cleveland in 1936 before first making the move to Los Angeles a decade later. In 1995, a new taxpayer-funded dome in St. Louis was made their new home but Kroenke returned the NFL side to LA.

He became majority owner in 2010 and plans to move the team back to Los Angeles were well underway. Four years later, the land for a stadium in LA was acquired before the move occurred in 2016.

While the decision was a popular one amongst the people of Los Angeles, there's a contrasting feeling amongst the residents of St. Louis, as was clear at the return of the XFL.

On Sunday night, the St. Louis Battlehawks faced the Arlington Renegades at The Dome at America's Center - which housed the Rams from 1995 to 2015. The team, who were founded by Vince McMahon's Alpha Entertainment and owned by Dwayne Johnson's Alpha Acquico, earned their third win of the season with a 24-11 triumph.

The fixture saw an astonishing record set by the Battlehawks with 38,310 spectators in attendance, a record in the XFL. The spectators inside the Dome let their feelings known on Kroenke within five minutes of the first quarter.

Chants of 'Kroenke sucks' echoed around the stadium, with them so loud that they were picked up on television. It's not the first time the Gunners owner has had his name sung at The Dome.

In 2020, more than 29,000 fans attended the first Battlehawks game in St. Louis and a video emerged online of fans hitting a Stan Kroenke Pinata with a steel chair, at the amusement of thousands of supporters.
