Only two Arsenal players scored above five out of ten in a brutal set of ratings from L'Equipe on Tuesday evening.
The Gunners stumbled to a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Emirates, with a Leandro Trossard equaliser 14 minutes from time salvaging a draw for Mikel Arteta's men.
Though they were denied a late penalty when Bukayo Saka hit the deck under challenge from Manuel Neuer in stoppage time, Arsenal were far from their best and failed to show the form that has taken them to the top of the Premier League this season.
They will now head to the German capital next week perhaps up against the odds, needing to win the game outright with the score all square heading into the English side's away leg.
Their poor performance, meanwhile, was reflected in the ratings from the French publication, with just two players reaching a score of six out of the 11 starters and manager Arteta.
L'Equipe, who are notoriously critical when giving out their ratings, handed both Saka and Gunners captain Martin Odegaard a six out of ten.
Elsewhere, there were five four of of tens handed out, as the defence, which has been by far the best in the Premier League this season, was criticised by the publication.
William Saliba in particular, who has starred for Arsenal this term but struggled to nail down a position in the French national team, received a three out of ten on the back of what was on of his most disappointing showings of the campaign.
'The Frenchman missed the opportunity to extend his remarkable season in the Premier League on the European stage,' the publication wrote of his performance. 'First at fault on Bayern's first goal, by being too short on the decisive passer, Leon Goretzka.
'Saliba then caused the penalty which will be transformed by Kane. The former Marseillais was also not very well placed in the action leading to Kingsley Coman's shot being pushed back by the post.'
Jakub Kiwior, again playing at left back and being rated a four out of ten, was also listed in the 'flops' section of the ratings, alongside Saliba in what was a night to forget for a usually-solid Gunners defence.
'The Polish full-back suffered a lot against the speed and excellent ball handling of Leroy Sane,' was written of his showing. Involved in the first goal conceded by his team, since he missed a pass sent to him by Gabriel, Kiwior also had very little influence in the construction of his team's play, touching only 27 balls, before being logically replaced at the break by [Oleksandr] Zinchenko.'
The attacking Arsenal players didn't fare much better, with Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli all receiving a five out of ten for their performances.
The criticism wasn't just aimed at Arsenal, however. Much of the spotlight was on Harry Kane - who received a six out of ten - upon his return to the Emirates after leaving arch rivals Tottenham for Bayern in the summer, but former Spurs man was also returning having completed the same transfer in January.
Dier has received widespread criticism for his performances since his move to Germany, but has continued to receive the trust of outgoing manager Thomas Tuchel, making 12 appearances for the club so far.
He didn't have quite the performance of Kane, however, also being handed a three out of ten by L'Equipe.
'Alongside Matthijs de Ligt in central defense, he did not convince,' they wrote of the former Tottenham defender. 'Lacking aggressiveness in duels, his raises were too often risky.
'His slowness constitutes a real obstacle at the highest European level. He didn't know how to seize his chance.'

Their goals were down to our sloppiness, if those moments didn't come i bet bayern would've hardly had shoots on targert! But there's still all to play for, Germany is Country, Alienz Arena is a stadium, and it gonna contains 11 each, So we are gonna Go for it!!! 🌶💪🏽💯
What is wrong in my own stadium and in front of my fans?? Are we the first club in UCL to draw a home game in front of the fans?? Like i said there's still to play for, we will play our football and play them good, Focus are going to diverted back to the 2nd leg after we play Aston villa, I'm sure they're go through their wrong moments and lapses, so don't write Us off okay!!

Lemme tell you without pressing and maturity Bayern Munich wouldn’t have scored the first goal The second goal sane took the ball from the middle and went through the arsenal defense. And you saw it was a clear penalty so I don’t know what you are talking about don’t you watch football? In your stadium in front of your own fans and the poor form Bayern is atm what other excuse do you have? ARSENAL IS GOING HOME RESPECTFULLY.

all the goals Bayern scored were out of our mistakes they didn't create goals on their own. And this has given me a hope that we are going to hummer Bayern Munich at their home
