Arsenal transfer: Tierney urged to leave, Yves Bissouma's 'exit decision'

The end of the season cannot come soon enough for Arsenal.

The joy of their FA Cup triumph last summer vanished long ago and the mood at the Emirates is bleak after the Gunners' limp exit from the Europa League at the semi-final stage.

In the wake of the 2-1 aggregate defeat by Villarreal, Mikel Arteta made no secret of his need to dip into the market this summer.

The Spaniard also hinted at further exits, continuing the work he began with a clear-out back at the start of the year.

To that end, Arsenal will be buoyed by the latest update on priority midfield target Yves Bissouma, who has been linked with a move from Brighton to north London this summer.

Tierney "needs to get out" of Emirates

Kieran Tierney has been called on to leave Arsenal by former Scotland youth international Tam McManus, who insists the left-back is "too good" for the Gunners.

Tierney has been a bright spark throughout a season where highlights have been few and far between for the north London club.

And former Hibernian forward McManus told PLZ Soccer: "Kieran Tierney needs to get out of there. For me, he is too good for Arsenal.

"Kieran Tierney can go and play for anybody in the Premier League, I genuinely mean that. Arsenal, for me, are a top-eight team or maybe a top-six team at best.

"He needs to get out of there and I think this summer, possibly a few bigger clubs in for him for bigger money and he can maybe move on.

"I think he is wasted there, he is too good for Arsenal."

Arteta's plea to Kroenke

Mikel Arteta called on Arsenal's owner, Stan Kroenke, to back him in the transfer window as he talked up a busy summer of incomings and outgoings at the Emirates.

The Gunners have endured a dismal season and their chances of silverware came to an abrupt end with a Europa League exit at the hands of Villarreal on Thursday.

"The squad needs changing." said Arteta of his side's situation. "There were already a lot of changes in December, something that has not been done in years, but it tells us where we were.

"Things are going to have to change and the owners are going to back it up."

Bissouma's transfer request

Yves Bissouma has asked to be allowed to leave Brighton this summer, according to The Times.

The midfielder is aware of interest from a trio of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, and is keen on a move away from the Amex as he approaches the final two years of his contract.

As well as the Gunners, Liverpool and Manchester City are also monitoring Bissouma, 24, and the Seagulls are reportedly willing to part ways with the player for a fee in the region of £30million.

Marseille are also understood to be keen on Bissouma, who joined Brighton in 2018 and has made 19 appearances for Mali.
